James was born November 8, 1923 to John Edward Hanner and Martha Georgia Long at his Hanner Grandparentsundefined homeplace. As a young man he was active in his church, graduated from Randleman Public Schools, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps when he was 19. James was sent to Paris Island, SC for training and was assigned to aircraft ordnance in the Ninth Marine Aircraft Wing, serving in the Pacific Theatre throughout World War II. Following his honorable discharge, Mr. Hanner graduated from High Point College on the GI Bill, and became office...
